We hunt in La Pampa region. This area is home for a variety of big game animals including Red Stag, Mountain Lion, Wild Boar and Black Buck. The majority of this animals where originally introduced in Argentina by wealthy land owners around the turn of the century. Over the years, the big game population have grown and now it offers an outstanding sport hunting.

 

Basic Information

Argentina is a vast and sparsely populated country. Because of government regulations and huge tracts of private land, an experienced guiding agency is recommended.

One of the added benefits of hunting Argentina is the opportunity of become acquainted with the Gaucho people for which the country is so noted. An inexpensive Argentinian hunting trip can take you into some of the most remote areas of the world, with a chance to hunt the prolific game and to experience its remote culture as well.

Seasons

Argentina is south of the equator, so its big game seasons are opposite that’s of the northern hemisphere. Hunting is conducted March through September, with April and May being the prime rutting season for deer. Cougar and wild boar can be hunted year around.

Transportation

A variety of international carriers fly direct to Buenos Aires from various American gateways. The cost of an international round trip flight currently varies between U$S 650 and U$S 900 depending on the advance purchase, day of travel, etc. The further in advance you can play your trip, the more opportunity you’ll have to take advantage of the bargain airfares. A domestic round trip flight from Buenos Aires to Bahía Blanca (where most hunting take place) is approximately U$S 150. One night should be spent in Buenos Aires on the way to hunting area. Buenos Aires is one of the most attractive and cosmopolitan cities in the world, and is suggested you allow time to take advantage of sightseeing opportunities, as well as rest up a short time after your international flight.

Accommodations

Depending on the area and species hunted, accommodations will vary from luxurious mountain hunting lodge to well-equipped tent camps.

Weapons and Gear

Calibers in .270 to .300 range are well suited for combinations hunts in Argentina. Archery equipment should be in the 55 to 65 pounds range. Handguns are allowed into the country.

Weather

The climate in Argentina is fairy mail, with temperatures from 20 to 60 degrees during most hunting season. It is always best to rely on several layers of clothing in order to adjust to daily temperatures. The La Pampa region is a dry climate, and it’s not unusual to see temperatures changes of 20 to 40 degrees per day. Brown camouflage is recommended. A good pair of light hunting boots for walking on varied terrain would be recommended.

Due to the strength of the American dollar in Argentina, hunting arrangements in our country are often less expensive than guided hunting trips in the Western United States and Alaska. In fact, a good mixed beg trip in Argentina can often be arranged for a lower overall cost than a do-it-yourself caribou hunting in Alaska. Here are some examples:
